• From July 1, all Italian motorists can file the Constatazione Amichevole di Incidente online via insurer apps or websites
• Digital submissions must be authenticated with SPID or CIE to ensure legal validity under EU eIDAS rules
• Insurers are required to offer both digital and traditional paper modules through April 2026 and beyond, with paper forms remaining valid indefinitely
• The digital CAI is expected to enhance data accuracy, speed up document transmission and help curb fraud through greater precision and traceability
• The rollout is part of an EU-wide push under eIDAS to modernize accident reporting in a sector that processed 1.8 million crashes in Italy last year
