Italy Tobacco Prices to Rise Jan. 16 as ADM Issues New Tariffs

The move is part of a multi-year budget plan to raise revenue.

  • Retailers were notified that the tariff change takes effect on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, for products listed by the authorities.
  • The customs and monopolies agency (ADM) has posted the updated tobacco price list online and will add remaining brand tables in the coming days.
  • Cigarette prices will increase by up to €0.30 per pack, with Marlboro moving from €6.50 to €6.80.
  • The increases cover numerous cigarette brands as well as cigars and loose tobacco, while heated tobacco products remain unchanged.
  • The budget law foresees further rises in 2027 and 2028 and estimates about €900 million in revenue this year.
