Italy Sets September Start for Targeted EV Purchase Bonus Funded by PNRR

The targeted scheme channels €597 million from the PNRR into point-of-sale discounts validated via a new Sogei portal.

Overview

  • Households can receive up to €11,000 with ISEE up to €30,000 or €9,000 for ISEE between €30,000 and €40,000, subject to scrapping a Euro 5 or older vehicle.
  • Eligible private buyers must reside in ISTAT functional urban areas over 50,000 inhabitants and choose a fully electric M1 car priced at €35,000 or less before VAT and options.
  • Only one incentive is allowed per family unit, and the scrapped car must be owned by the applicant for at least six months.
  • Microenterprises can obtain €20,000 per electric commercial vehicle in categories N1 or N2, capped at 30% of the purchase price under EU de minimis rules.
  • The Sogei platform will generate the discount at purchase, dealers must validate within 30 days, the opening date is pending, and all vouchers must be validated by June 30, 2026.
