Overview
- The online application portal run by Invitalia opened at 12:00 on Tuesday and requires users to sign in with SPID, the electronic ID card (CIE) or the national service card (CNS).
- The grant covers 80% of purchase and installation costs up to €1,500 for individuals and up to €8,000 for works on condominium common areas, with applications accepted until 12:00 on 31 January 2027 for installations from 26 June 2026 onward.
- The program has a fixed budget of €68 million allocated through 2030 and will reimburse only new, factory-produced charging units placed on areas fully available to the beneficiary.
- Eligible costs include necessary electrical systems, building works, design, testing and activation of a new POD for grid connection, and the ministry says the measure is meant to both help households and direct demand to Italian suppliers.
- Italy already had 84,564 charging points by 30 June 2026 with about 12.3% not yet connected to the grid, a practical bottleneck that could affect how quickly subsidised installations become operational and how far the limited €68 million will stretch.
