Overview

  • Cipess has granted definitive approval for the 3.3 km single-span suspension bridge, activating Eurolink’s €10.6 billion construction contract
  • Groundbreaking is scheduled for September–October 2025 pending final endorsement by the Court of Auditors
  • The design features nearly 400 m towers, a 72 m shipping clearance and integrated seismic and wind monitoring systems
  • The bridge will carry three traffic lanes per direction, two railway tracks for up to 200 trains daily and capacity for 6,000 vehicles per hour
  • Compensation procedures are underway for about 598 property units on both shores at an estimated cost of €215 million
