Overview

  • On July 1, Piemonte, Lombardia, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Sardegna activated ordinances halting outdoor work from 12:30 to 16:00 on days flagged as high heat risk by the Worklimate system.
  • Sardinia’s ordinance imposes criminal sanctions under Article 650 of the Penal Code for violations while Piedmont recommends lifting local noise restrictions to allow work during cooler hours.
  • Tomorrow at 17:00, Minister Marina Calderone will preside over the formal signing of a national heat emergency protocol unifying regional measures and safeguarding employers from climate-related liability.
  • The protocol framework mandates automatic recourse to CIG wage guarantee funds whenever work hours are suspended or reduced due to extreme heat, including for seasonal workers.
  • Key intervention areas outlined in the draft protocol include information and training, health surveillance, provision of protective clothing and reorganization of work shifts.
