• Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said the government condemns the overnight attack reported by flotilla organizers in international waters north of Crete.
• The multi‑role frigate Fasan, already operating under Operazione Mediterraneo Sicuro, was authorized to reach the area for potential rescue, assistance and protection.
• Italy has also sent the ship Alpino to add capabilities, with the stated goal of safeguarding Italian citizens aboard and helping ensure the aid reaches recipients.
