Italy Delays Psychologist Bonus Click Day as Funding Covers a Fraction of Demand

Overview

  • The Ministry of Health has not issued the required implementing decree, postponing the application launch that was set for July 25.
  • Approximately €9.5 million is allocated for 2025, enough to fund only about 6,300 of the more than 400,000 expected applicants.
  • Eligible applicants need SPID credentials and an ISEE below €50,000 to receive up to €1,500 per year without a medical prescription.
  • Introduced in 2022 and made permanent to address pandemic-related mental health needs, the bonus has consistently seen demand vastly exceed its budget.
  • Third-sector groups Pubblica and Diritto a stare bene are collecting 50,000 signatures and working with M5S lawmakers to fully finance the program and create a national public psychology service.
