Italy Clears Path for Extradition of Easey Street Murder Suspect

Perry Kouroumblis is set to face charges in Australia for the 1977 murders of Suzanne Armstrong and Susan Bartlett.

Perry Kouroumblis, a dual Australian-Greek national, is accused of the 1977 murders of Suzanne Armstrong and Susan Bartlett in Melbourne.
Italy's Justice Minister Carlo Nordio approved the extradition after Kouroumblis was detained in Rome on an Interpol Red Notice.
The final approval from a Rome Court of Appeal judge is expected soon, which will allow Australian authorities to transfer Kouroumblis to Melbourne.
Kouroumblis has been held in Rome's Regina Coeli prison since September and has consented to the extradition process.
The suspect left Australia for Greece in 2017 after being asked to provide DNA in the cold-case investigation but was unable to be extradited from Greece due to its statute of limitations.
