Overview
- USB and other base unions have called a national, 24-hour stoppage across public and private sectors, affecting trains, local transit, ports, logistics, schools and research.
- Rail staff at FS/Trenitalia, Trenord and Italo will strike with regional services guaranteed only from 06:00–09:00 and 18:00–21:00, and operator lists identifying select long‑distance trains; some rail stoppages run 21:00 on September 21 to 20:59 on September 22.
- Local transit will run in protected bands, including Rome ATAC to 8:29 and 17:00–20:00, Milan ATM to 8:45 and 15:00–18:00, and Turin GTT to 8:00 and 18:00–21:00, with services at risk outside those windows.
- The aviation sector is not participating, so domestic and international flights are expected to operate normally, though access to airports via public transport could be disrupted.
- Organizers and police expect over 60 demonstrations nationwide with security plans in major cities, and the transport ministry’s calendar shows additional sectoral strikes scheduled through mid‑November.
