Overview
- The Council of Ministers approved on June 30 a decree granting 497,550 work permits across 2026–2028, allocating 164,850 permits for 2026, 165,850 for 2027 and 166,850 for 2028.
- Of the total permits, 230,550 are earmarked for non-seasonal and autonomous work while 267,000 cover seasonal roles in agriculture and tourism.
- For the first time, quotas will be distributed at the regional level to align legal entries with local labor demands and prevent application bottlenecks.
- The traditional national click day will be replaced by sector- and region-specific application windows with enhanced verifications and tougher penalties to curb fraud.
- Following parliamentary committee and State–Regions conference reviews, the decree will come into force ahead of click days scheduled for early 2026.
