Italian Surfer Fatally Impaled by Swordfish in Indonesia

Giulia Manfrini, a 36-year-old surfer and travel agency co-founder, died in a rare swordfish attack while surfing in the Mentawai Islands.

Despite immediate first aid from witnesses and transport to a local medical center, Manfrini succumbed to her injuries.

Manfrini was a well-known figure in the surfing community, co-founding AWAVE Travel and amassing a large social media following.
Her death has led to an outpouring of tributes from friends, colleagues, and the mayor of her hometown, Venaria Reale, Italy.
