Italian Police Probe Clear-Web Market for Hacked Home Cameras

Researchers at Yarix say the portal aggregates feeds from more than 2,000 devices across several countries with access sold through a Telegram bot.

Overview

  • The site has been active at least since December 2024 and is reachable via search engines, offering free clips and a searchable archive tagged by place, room, people and activity.
  • Paid options range from roughly $20 to $575, with prices tied to popularity and views, and some videos have surpassed 20,000 views.
  • Yarix identified about 150 videos tied to Italy, with additional material traced to France, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico and Argentina.
  • In some cases buyers are offered direct access or even control of the compromised cameras, including devices in homes, beauty centers and medical offices.
  • Yarix reported the portal to the Cosc in Venice and the Polizia Postale, which are investigating provenance and possible staged content as Yarix continues monitoring.
