Overview

• The series debuts with two episodes on HBO and Max on Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET, with the UK launch on Sky and NOW TV on Oct. 27 and weekly Monday releases through Dec. 15.
• Set in 1962, the eight-episode season follows Korean War veteran Leroy Hanlon and local children as they probe disappearances in Derry.
• Bill Skarsgård reprises Pennywise and serves as an executive producer alongside an ensemble including Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, Stephen Rider and Rudy Mancuso.
• Andy and Barbara Muschietti say graphic shocks are used sparingly to deepen character and emotion rather than for spectacle.
• The narrative draws from Mike Hanlon’s interludes in King’s novel and will unfold in reverse toward the moment IT becomes Pennywise, a first episode Stephen King has called “amazing” and “terrifying.”
