- One of the accused repeatedly struck Sharma on the head with a helmet before fleeing the scene; Sharma managed to report the incident at a police station but collapsed shortly after and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
- Police are examining CCTV footage and a passerby's video, though the images are unclear, to identify and locate the suspects described as two men in their early 20s.
- Sharma, originally from Punjab, had been living alone in Kharghar for two years and worked as a project manager for NuSummit Technology in Vashi.
