Overview
- Isuzu and Mazda replace the 1.9-litre with a Euro-compliant 2.2-litre RZ4F producing 120 kW and 400 Nm, paired exclusively with an Aisin eight-speed automatic and rated to tow 3500 kg.
- Idle stop-start is now fitted to the new 2.2-litre and the 3.0-litre engines, with claimed consumption as low as 6.3 L/100km in the D-Max and 6.7 L/100km in the MU-X alongside lower CO2 outputs.
- The D-Max drops all manual variants to go auto-only, gains minor grade changes including a 2.2-litre X-Rider, while the 3.0-litre continues with a six-speed automatic.
- Prices increase by roughly A$1,500–A$2,500 across Isuzu ranges, with the D-Max now starting at about A$36,200, and Mazda’s BT-50 adds the 2.2-litre in XS from A$37,900 with broader price rises.
- Ordering and showroom arrivals begin in early October 2025, and Isuzu lists CO2 figures of about 174 g/km for D-Max 2.2L and 177 g/km for MU-X, which clear the 2025 NVES cap but face tightening limits from 2026.
