ISRO’s PSLV-C62 Registers Third-Stage Deviation During EOS-N1 Rideshare Launch

A data review is underway after end-of-third-stage disturbances left some mission outcomes unconfirmed.

Overview

  • ISRO’s PSLV-C62 lifted off at 10:18 am IST from Sriharikota on a commercial NSIL mission carrying 16 satellites, led by DRDO’s hyperspectral EOS-N1 (Anvesha).
  • Chairman V. Narayanan said disturbances were seen near the end of the third stage with a subsequent flight-path deviation, and teams are analysing telemetry.
  • The mission plan includes restarting the fourth stage to de-boost for Spain’s KID re-entry capsule, with the demonstration slated more than two hours after liftoff and status pending confirmation.
  • The flight is the PSLV’s first since a May 2025 third-stage anomaly; ISRO conducted reviews and cleared the DL configuration with two strap-on boosters after corrective measures.
  • Co-passengers include technology demos from Indian startups such as OrbitAID’s AayulSAT for on-orbit refuelling and the MOI‑1 AI imaging lab carrying the lightweight MIRA telescope, reflecting growing private-sector participation.
