Overview
- ISRO issued the second Announcement of Opportunity on Monday inviting proposals from Indian researchers to request XPoSat observation time and mission data.
- Proposals must be submitted by July 25, 2026, and if approved the observations will be executed on a centrally planned schedule between September 2026 and March 2027.
- Successful teams will have exclusive access to their XPoSat data for six months before ISRO archives the data on the Indian Space Science Data Centre for registered users.
- XPoSat carries two payloads: POLIX, which measures X‑ray polarisation in the 8–30 keV band, and XSPECT, which provides spectroscopy and timing in the 0.8–15 keV band, and the AO is focused on XSPECT proposals for this cycle.
- The call limits applicants to Indian scientists working at institutes, universities or colleges in India and builds on earlier XPoSat releases that already led to peer‑reviewed papers as part of ISRO’s plan to expand domestic expertise in high‑energy astrophysics; XPoSat was launched on January 1, 2024.
