Overview

  • ISRO executed IADT-01 near Sriharikota with coordinated support from the Indian Air Force, DRDO, the Navy and the Coast Guard.
  • A roughly 5‑tonne dummy crew module was released from an IAF Chinook at a few kilometers altitude, culminating in a controlled sea splashdown.
  • The full parachute deployment chain—stabilisation, drogue, pilot and three main canopies—was exercised to verify safe deceleration and recovery.
  • Engineers will analyse test data to plan further air‑drop trials and remaining validations before the next test vehicle mission.
  • ISRO is preparing for TV‑D2 and the first uncrewed Gaganyaan flight carrying Vyommitra in December 2025, with a crewed mission still targeted for 2027 as officials report about 80% of roughly 7,700 tests completed.
