  • Uttar Pradesh registers about 300 lightning-related fatalities each year, prompting the state to seek targeted, region-specific early warnings.
  • A state-level workshop at the Remote Sensing Application Centre expanded the agenda to integrate satellite and remote sensing technologies into agriculture, irrigation, urban planning and disaster management.
  • During July 7–8 meetings in Lucknow, CM Yogi Adityanath and ISRO Chairman V Narayanan agreed to prioritize the lightning-alert project and explore tailored remote sensing solutions.
