Israel’s 2025 Immigration Falls Overall as Western Aliyah Grows and North America Hits Four-Year High

Officials credit heightened solidarity with Israel for a surge from Western countries.

Overview

  • Israel recorded about 21,900 new immigrants in 2025, a drop of roughly one-third from 2024 driven by far fewer arrivals from Russia.
  • Arrivals from Russia fell to about 8,300, down 57% from 2024, while Western inflows increased, with 3,500 from the United States (+5%), 3,300 from France (+45%) and 840 from the United Kingdom (+19%).
  • Nefesh B’Nefesh reported 4,150 immigrants from the United States and Canada in 2025, a rise of more than 12% and the highest annual total in four years, with over half of applicants citing solidarity with Israel.
  • The organization logged 13,389 aliyah application openings in 2025, reflecting roughly a 50% cumulative increase since 2022 and continued daily interest heading into 2026.
  • Targeted programs steered newcomers into priority needs and regions, including 93 North American physicians (541 globally) and 1,505 olim settling in Jerusalem, the Negev and the Galilee, as the government moves to encourage immigration from countries facing rising antisemitism.
