Israeli Strikes Kill At Least 22 in Gaza Ahead of Netanyahu’s UN Speech

Israel says the push targets Hamas’s last major stronghold in Gaza City.

Overview

  • Gaza Civil Defense and local hospitals reported at least 22 people killed in overnight strikes across the territory, with many incidents in Gaza City.
  • The Israeli military said it hit more than 140 targets in 24 hours, describing attacks on tunnel entrances, militants and other military infrastructure.
  • Residents were again ordered to leave Gaza City’s port district and the al-Rimal area as ground and air operations intensified.
  • Netanyahu’s office arranged trucks with loudspeakers on the Israeli side of the border to broadcast his UN address into Gaza and said troops must not be put at risk.
  • Médecins Sans Frontières said it suspended its activities in Gaza City because clinics were encircled and the security risk to staff had become unacceptable.
