Overview
- Local health and civil defence officials in Gaza reported roughly 20–24 people killed and dozens wounded in four to five strikes, including hits on a car in Gaza City’s Rimal area and homes in Deir al-Balah and Nuseirat.
- The Israeli military said it launched the strikes after an “armed terrorist” crossed the Yellow Line and fired at troops along a humanitarian corridor, reporting additional incidents in Rafah and northern Gaza in which several militants were killed.
- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said five senior Hamas figures were eliminated in the operations, while Hamas rejected Israel’s account and called the strikes violations of the truce.
- Hamas appealed to mediators to step in to preserve the ceasefire as Israel urged pressure on Hamas to meet truce obligations, including returning the remains of three hostages.
- Regional tensions also rose in the West Bank, where Palestinian authorities said two teenagers were killed in an Israeli raid near Ramallah a day earlier, as residents reported new settler attacks near Nablus.
