Israeli Raid in South Lebanon Kills Municipal Worker After Ground Incursion Into Blida

Israel calls the operation a strike on Hezbollah infrastructure under internal review.

Overview

  • Lebanon’s Health Ministry and the official ANI agency said municipal employee Ibrahim Salamé was killed during a nocturnal Israeli raid inside Blida, a village located more than one kilometre from the border.
  • The Israeli army confirmed the incursion, stating the unit was acting against Hezbollah infrastructure and opened fire after identifying a direct threat, and said the incident is under investigation.
  • Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the action as a flagrant attack on state institutions, and President Joseph Aoun instructed the Lebanese army to oppose any Israeli incursions.
  • ANI reported an Israeli unit demolished a building used for religious ceremonies in the border village of Adaissé, while additional strikes targeted al-Jarmak and Mahmoudiyé and drones flew over Beirut’s southern suburbs.
  • The UN human rights office reports 111 Lebanese civilian deaths attributed to Israeli forces since the war’s end, as the ceasefire-monitoring mechanism met in Naqoura and the United States pressed for all weapons to be brought under state control by year-end.
