Israeli Cafe Chain Supporting Oct. 7 Survivors Expands Nationwide
Cafe Otef, staffed by displaced residents from communities affected by the Hamas attack, is opening new branches to foster healing and resilience.
- Cafe Otef was founded to honor and support survivors of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, particularly those from southern border communities.
- The cafes are staffed entirely by displaced residents from affected regions and sell goods sourced from small producers impacted by the attack.
- The flagship Tel Aviv branch, Cafe Otef-Re’im, serves as a community hub for survivors, evacuees, and others to connect and find solace.
- Plans are underway to open new branches in Rehovot and Kiryat Shmona, as well as food trucks, with a focus on creating jobs for war-disabled soldiers.
- The initiative aims to provide a space for renewal and resilience while preserving the legacies of those lost, including through products like chocolates made from a victim's recipes.
