Overview
- The IDF released footage and details of a tunnel network in southern Rafah that it says held Lt. Hadar Goldin’s body, describing more than 7 kilometers of passages about 25 meters deep with roughly 80 rooms.
- The route, according to the military, ran beneath a residential area near the Philadelphi Corridor and under civilian sites including a UNRWA compound, mosques, clinics, kindergartens and schools.
- Elite Yahalom engineering forces and Shayetet 13 naval commandos led the operation to uncover the complex, with surrounding areas secured by the 162nd Division and the Gaza Division.
- Israeli authorities also disclosed the July 21 capture of Marwan al-Hams in Khan Younis, saying the Hamas operative had information about Goldin’s burial location as part of dozens of covert missions in recent months.
- Goldin’s remains were returned earlier in November under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, and some outlets noted the newly released tunnel footage is edited and not independently verified.
