Overview

  • On June 13, Israeli forces targeted Natanz, which Prime Minister Netanyahu called the heart of Iran’s nuclear enrichment programme.
  • Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile has reached over 9,200 kilograms—more than 45 times the 2015 deal limit—with about 409 kilograms at 60 percent purity.
  • The IAEA Board of Governors issued its first criticism of Iran in two decades, censuring Tehran for restricting access to inspectors.
  • Tehran has denied any intent to build nuclear weapons and said it will establish a third enrichment site and deploy advanced centrifuges in response to the strikes.
  • Despite parallel US-Iran talks on easing sanctions for curbs on enrichment, diplomatic progress has not halted Iran’s nuclear expansion.
