Overview
- COGAT said UN and international trucks can now enter through Zikim following security inspections by the Defence Ministry’s Land Crossings Authority.
- The crossing had been shut for about two months, and a COGAT spokesperson told AFP it will remain open permanently.
- With Zikim operational, three entry points are now in use for relief convoys: Kerem Shalom in the south, al-Karara in central Gaza, and Zikim in the north.
- Deliveries remain well below the ceasefire goal of roughly 600 trucks per day as UN agencies warn of catastrophic hunger and famine in northern Gaza.
- Field reports described Israeli air raids and clashes in the north as efforts continued to recover captives’ bodies, with four remains still outstanding, and Israeli minister Ron Dermer announced his resignation.
