Israel Receives Another Hostage’s Remains Under Gaza Ceasefire Exchange

Forensic confirmation will set the updated count of bodies still held in Gaza.

Overview

  • Israel said a coffin with a deceased hostage’s remains was transferred via the Red Cross to an IDF–ISA team and sent to the national forensic institute for identification.
  • Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades said the body was recovered in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood and delivered as part of the ongoing truce mechanism.
  • Before this transfer, 21 deceased hostages had been returned; if the latest remains are verified, six bodies would still be held in Gaza, according to Israeli officials.
