- Israel’s Foreign Ministry said it withdrew Gali Dagan’s agrément request after Brasília did not respond and that dealings will continue at a lower diplomatic level.
- Brazilian newspaper Gazeta do Povo reported the government did not intend to accept Dagan following the retirement of Israel’s previous ambassador in Brasília.
- Brazil has not had an ambassador in Israel since recalling its envoy last year over the Gaza war.
- Relations further cooled after Brazil left the onal HolocaustHolocaust Remembrance Alliance in July and said it would join South Africa’s genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
