ISR Confirms Twin Tremors in Kutch, Gujarat, of Magnitude 3.1 and 2.6

The region sits in a very high seismic risk zone prone to frequent low-intensity quakes.

This quake was preceded by a tremor of 2.6 magnitude, also recorded in the same district.

  • An earlier 2.6 magnitude tremor was logged at around 6:41 am with an epicentre roughly 24 km east-southeast of Dholavira.
  • District disaster management officials reported no injuries or damage following the two events.
  • Seismological and disaster authorities said monitoring continues as part of routine oversight in the Kutch seismic zone.
  • Kutch’s vulnerability is underscored by the 2001 earthquake that killed around 13,800 people and injured about 167,000.
