Overview

• Ayala-Uribe died in custody on September 22 at Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville, California.
• He had been held at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center and was evaluated by an on-call physician on September 18 before receiving medication and returning to his dormitory.
• ICE transferred him on September 21 for further evaluation of a gluteal abscess, a surgery was scheduled, and he was found unconscious early the next day and pronounced dead.
• ICE said he presented hypertension and abnormal tachycardia, the cause of death remains under investigation, and the Mexican Consulate was notified by phone.
