Kyle Palmieri, Pierre Engvall, Bo Horvat, and Simon Holmstrom also scored for the Islanders.
Sebastian Aho of the Hurricanes tied the game with 2.5 seconds left in regulation, forcing the game into overtime.
The Islanders have now won four of their last six games.
