Despite being one man down and having a 5-on-3 opportunity in the first 1:06 of the third, Senators failed to capitalize and ultimately lost the game.
Sorokin stood out in net for the Islanders by making 45 saves, while Ottawa's Korpisalo recorded 35 saves. The Senators' points were scored by Giroux and Chychrun.
