Islamabad Under Lockdown as TLP March Advances From Lahore

Authorities have sealed Red Zone gates with more than 5,500 personnel deployed.

Overview

  • Entry via the M-2 from Kalar Kahar to Islamabad is sealed, with key interchanges at Chakri, Kala Shah Kaku, Fateh Jang, Zero Point and the M-1/M-2 junction closed.
  • Traffic curbs extend to the M-4, M-3 and M-11 motorways and the N-5 near Muridke, where the convoy was last reported.
  • More than 5,500 personnel from Rangers, Frontier Corps and police forces are deployed, and all gates into the Red Zone are shut at points including Serena Chowk, Nadra Chowk, D-Chowk and the Marriott.
  • Rawalpindi police report about 70 additional arrests after 150 earlier, with Section 144 enforced and some 7,500 staff on special duty.
  • Metro Bus and other inter-city services are suspended, partial mobile internet outages are reported, and residents face major delays reaching offices and hospitals.
