Islamabad ATC Issues Non-Bailable Warrants for PTI Leaders as Punjab Restores Khan’s Jail Trial

Courts set Oct. 20 as the next date for executing the warrants, with GHQ witnesses to return to the Adiala Jail courtroom.

Overview

  • An Islamabad anti-terrorism court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul and Sheikh Waqas Akram in the Sangjani rally case after noting they had not appeared once.
  • Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra ordered police to arrest the three and produce them by Oct. 20, rejecting Ayub’s plea for exemption and adjourning proceedings to that date.
  • Separately, the Punjab government reinstated Imran Khan’s in-jail trial in the GHQ gate attack case, and the ATC resumed hearings inside Adiala Jail before moving the matter to Oct. 20.
  • Prosecutor Zaheer Shah said the video-link trial notification was withdrawn and prior witness statements remain on record, while Khan’s counsel pursues a related petition at the Lahore High Court.
  • In parallel cases, arrest warrants for Asad Qaiser were canceled upon his appearance, interim bail was extended for Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Musarrat and Jamshed Cheema, Asad Umar and Azam Swati, and the LHC criticized prosecutors for not submitting records in Ejaz Chaudhry’s bail plea.
