Overview
- Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister is heading the delegation to the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Moscow on November 17–18 after an invitation from Russia’s prime minister.
- The session brings together heads of government from Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with Iran represented by its vice president and India and Pakistan represented by their foreign ministers.
- Dar is set to present Pakistan’s views on regional and global issues and propose ways to strengthen the organisation for the benefit of the SCO region.
- Pakistan plans bilateral meetings with leaders from other SCO countries during the gathering to discuss matters of mutual interest.
- The CHG is the SCO’s second-highest decision-making body, guiding cooperation on economy, finance, trade, connectivity and the organisation’s budget, while Pakistan has announced it will host the next SCO summit at a date yet to be set.
