French actress Isabelle Adjani has been found guilty of tax fraud and given a two-year suspended prison sentence and a €250,000 fine.
Adjani was found guilty of moving to Portugal from 2016 to 2017 to avoid paying €236,000 in taxes, not declaring a €120,000 deposit into a U.S. account, and disguising a €2 million donation as a loan.
The investigation into Adjani's tax fraud was launched in 2016 after her name appeared in the Panama Papers.
Adjani's lawyer, Olivier Pardo, has expressed dismay at the ruling and plans to file an appeal.
Despite her legal troubles, Adjani's acting career continues to flourish with recent roles in Netflix's 'Voleuses' and Francois Ozon’s 'Petra von Kant'.
