IRS Distributes $1,400 Stimulus Checks to Eligible Taxpayers

The IRS is sending out up to $1,400 in stimulus payments to taxpayers who did not claim the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on their 2021 tax returns.
An estimated 1 million Americans are eligible for these payments, which total approximately $2.4 billion.
Payments are being issued automatically via direct deposit or paper checks, with no additional action required for those who already filed their 2021 tax returns.
Taxpayers who have not yet filed their 2021 tax returns can still qualify if they file and claim the RRC by April 15, 2025.
Most payments are expected to be received by late January 2025, with recipients also receiving a notification letter from the IRS.
