Irish Chef Alan Fisher Breaks Two Guinness World Records for Longest Cooking and Baking Marathons

Chef Fisher, based in Japan, surpasses Nigerian Hilda Baci's record by cooking for over 119 hours, and also topples American Wendy Sandner's baking record after over two days of continuous effort.

  • Irish chef Alan Fisher, who is based in Japan, took the world record for longest cooking marathon, cooking for 119 hours and 57 minutes, breaking the former record of 93 hours 11 minutes set by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.
  • In the process of setting the cooking record, Chef Fisher peeled 300kg of potatoes, and experienced fatigue-induced hallucinations towards the end of the marathon.
  • Following his cooking marathon, Fisher took a day of rest then launched into a baking marathon, baking for 47 hours 21 minutes, surpassing the previous record set by American Wendy Sandner of 31 hours and 16 minutes.
  • Throughout the consecutive marathons, Fisher produced 357kg of soda bread and 3,360 portions of food.
  • Fisher expressed gratitude for the support he received from local residents, asserting that his record attempts would only be successful with their backing.
