Overview

  • From August 1, only users with linked and authenticated Aadhaar profiles can book Tatkal tickets online and receive priority in the Advance Reservation Period.
  • Authorized agents are barred from making any Tatkal reservations during the first 30 minutes of the booking window, closing AC quotas from 10:00 am to 10:30 am and non-AC quotas from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
  • Tatkal tickets booked at computerized PRS counters and through agents now require a one-time OTP sent to the passenger’s mobile number for confirmation.
  • Passengers without Aadhaar linkage remain able to reserve standard, non-Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC portal and app without additional authentication.
  • The latest rules build on July’s AI-driven ID deactivations and infrastructure upgrades aimed at preventing bot abuse and multiple fake bookings.
