Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Released on Bail

Supreme Court finds flaws in initial six-year sentence, case sent back to lower court.

Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi has been released on bail after spending over a year in prison for supporting anti-government protests.
Salehi's arrest followed the death of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini in September 2022, which sparked nationwide protests.
The Supreme Court of Iran found 'flaws in the initial sentence' that had sentenced Salehi to six years in prison.
During his imprisonment, Salehi spent 252 days in solitary confinement.
The conditions of Salehi's bail have not been disclosed, and his case has been sent back to a lower court.
