Iranian National with Terrorism Ties Deported to Canada After Unlawful US Entry Attempts

The individual, wanted on assault charges in Canada, was apprehended twice at the US-Canada border before his deportation.

Iranian national with 'ties to terrorism' was deported to Canada on Dec. 21 after two attempts to unlawfully enter the US.
The individual, who is also a permanent resident of Canada, is wanted by Canadian authorities on assault charges.
The man first tried to enter the US on Oct. 10 via the Rainbow Bridge Pedestrian Walkway in Niagara Falls, but was turned away by US border authorities.
He was arrested two days later after unlawfully entering the US via the Whirlpool Bridge Port of Entry in Niagara Falls.
In 2023, US authorities encountered 564 individuals whose names appeared on the terror watchlist at the northern and southern borders, of which 172 successfully crossed illegally into the US.
