Iranian National with Terrorism Ties Deported to Canada After Unlawful US Entry Attempts

The individual, wanted on assault charges in Canada, was apprehended twice at the US-Canada border before his deportation.

  • Iranian national with 'ties to terrorism' was deported to Canada on Dec. 21 after two attempts to unlawfully enter the US.
  • The individual, who is also a permanent resident of Canada, is wanted by Canadian authorities on assault charges.
  • The man first tried to enter the US on Oct. 10 via the Rainbow Bridge Pedestrian Walkway in Niagara Falls, but was turned away by US border authorities.
  • He was arrested two days later after unlawfully entering the US via the Whirlpool Bridge Port of Entry in Niagara Falls.
  • In 2023, US authorities encountered 564 individuals whose names appeared on the terror watchlist at the northern and southern borders, of which 172 successfully crossed illegally into the US.
