Iran Thwarts Planned ISIL Attack During Eid al-Fitr

Iranian authorities have arrested senior ISIL members planning a suicide attack at the end of Ramadan, amid rising regional tensions.

Iranian police arrested a senior ISIL member and two others accused of planning a suicide attack during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The arrests followed a tip-off from a concerned citizen in the province of Alborz, leading to the detention of 11 individuals in total.
ISIL had previously claimed responsibility for twin bombings in Kerman, killing nearly 100, and has been behind several attacks in Iran.
The arrests come as Iran faces increased security challenges, including recent attacks on its forces and an Israeli attack in Syria.
