Overview

  • The Iran-linked group known as “Robert” says it controls about 100 gigabytes of emails stolen from Trump associates.
  • Targets include White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, lawyer Lindsey Halligan, adviser Roger Stone and Stormy Daniels, with the group hinting at selling or publicly leaking the data.
  • After declaring retirement in May, the hackers returned to communication this week in retaliation for airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
  • A joint advisory from CISA, the FBI, the Defense Department’s Cyber Crime Center and the NSA condemned the threats as digital propaganda and urged critical infrastructure operators to strengthen defenses.
  • FBI Director Kash Patel and the Justice Department have vowed to investigate and prosecute anyone involved in breaches of national security.
