Iran Confirms 71 Killed in Israeli Strike on Tehran’s Evin Prison

Iran’s judiciary released casualty figures alongside reports that surviving inmates have been relocated to other Tehran province prisons under the U.S.-brokered ceasefire

Overview

  • Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir said the June 23 airstrike claimed the lives of administrative staff, conscripted soldiers, detainees, visiting family members and neighbours, bringing the death toll to 71.
  • Images released by the judiciary showed extensive damage to the prison’s administrative wing, medical centre and visitor areas following the attack.
