- Under the new quota, IPU will reserve one additional seat in each school and program for orphan students who qualify for a full fee waiver under its EWS scheme.
- Vice Chancellor Mahesh Verma said the initiative aims to support students who lost parents to COVID-19 or other circumstances and will be among the first of its kind in India.
- Selected orphan students will receive assistance to secure further financial support through various government welfare schemes.
- The council also approved program expansions, including a dedicated PhD track for working professionals, lateral MBA entry in Fire and Industrial Safety, and new certificate courses in Spanish and other foreign languages.
- IPU will establish an In-Situ Center for Indian Knowledge System and Technology Innovation and launch MSc, certificate, and diploma courses at its soon-to-open Narela campus.
