Ipsos Poll Finds Crime and Violence Still Brazil’s Top Worry, Easing From November Peak
Results come from a late November to early December survey of 1,000 Brazilians.
Overview
- Forty-five percent cited crime and violence as their main concern in December 2025, down from 52% in November but still the leading issue.
- The next most cited issues were corruption at 36%, health at 34%, poverty and inequality at 31%, and taxes at 27%.
- Ipsos attributes the dip in concern over crime to the fading impact of highly visible police operations against organized crime.
- Concern about taxes has risen roughly five points over the past year, a trend linked by Ipsos to 2025 tax reform regulation debates.
- Climate change concern edged up to 14%, and in the 29-country comparison crime and violence also lead globally at 32%, while 59% of Brazilians say the country is on the wrong track.
