- A group of Instituto Politécnico Nacional students entered and have held Canal Once since Thursday, May 21, blocking staff access and preventing normal live broadcasts.
- Canal Once said it cannot operate normally from its studios, has moved programming to social media and digital platforms, and launched an internal investigation that led to the provisional suspension of three service providers.
- The Secretaría de Educación Pública delivered a written reply and proposed a mesa de diálogo to review the students’ 10-point petition, but students refused to accept the document and demanded written, substantive answers and the names of personnel they say assaulted them.
- Students have organized internal assemblies and public events such as a planned ‘Polifest’ to vote on next steps while they press for the removal of IPN director Arturo Reyes Sandoval, budget increases, transparency and probes of alleged abuses.
- Authorities and Canal Once warn that many demands involve administrative procedures, funding allocations or regulatory changes that will require months of technical work to address, creating a risk of prolonged disruption to the broadcaster and to students’ calls for quick remedies.
