iPhone Survives 16,000-Foot Drop from Alaska Airlines Plane

Found by Portland Resident, the Device was Still in Airplane Mode and is the Second Phone Recovered from the Flight

An iPhone was sucked out of an Alaska Airlines plane after a door plug blew off midair and survived a 16,000-foot drop, found intact and operational.
The iPhone was found by Sean Bates, a Portland resident, who noticed the device was still in Airplane mode and had an Alaskan Airlines email open.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed this was the second phone found from the flight.
The iPhone's survival has sparked a flurry of comments and jokes online, with many attributing its survival to being in airplane mode.
The NTSB has also found the missing door plug from the plane, which landed in a local school teacher's backyard.
